A Wonderful Week
I decided on that night that I was going to make the church a regular part of my life - and support Peter in any way I could.
I have a car and am more than happy to drive my friends to events I am attending. In the weeks to follow we have filled up the car and attended the Pizza/Movie Nights - to everyone's great enjoyment.
On Saturday Dec. 14th, Peter informed me about a Community Christmas Party which was being hosted at the church by the Montreal Children's Theatre and owner Sandra Holder. I had understood it to be a Christmas Dinner meal. I had 6 people in my little Toyota Yaris for this event - and we all found seats next to each other in one of two dining halls used for the event. To our surprise and amazement - the event was not only an incredible meal - but also a collection of great acts - from poetry reading by a group of teens and preteens - to Christmas Carol singing by the Yellow Door Choir - to an amazing steel drum performance - to a very spirited offering by a local rock group. All acts were top notch and provided a great refrain between the offerings of the incredible 5 - course meal. An absolutely wonderful time was had by all!
Last Friday evening a group of about 15 of us (10 adults and 5 children)collected at the church at 6:30pm for door-to-door carol singing. It was a chilly evening but we persevered - covering approximately 20 households on Godfrey and Grand Blvds. We sang the first verse of one of 15 well known Christmas carols, then finished with a refrain of 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' - in order to keep it short for those who opened their doors to us - which virtually every household we rang did! It was a magical night capped off by hot chocolate, party sandwiches and cookies back at the church.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Rombeek for all the work he is doing within the community to bring us together - and to thank Sandra Holder and the numerous support people who helped her to pull off such a wonderful event.
Wishing you peace, love and joy always...
