Bob Tait: Goodness to the Core

I had a couple of friends - Sam Marshall and Mona - who used to hang around Fadi's Depanneur on the corner of Sherbrooke and Harvard - assisting Fadi when needed. Both Sam and Mona died way too soon. They both spoke about Bob regularly - although to that point I had never met him.

And then one day I did - and from that point on, Bob became a regular presence in my life.  He is a great and caring man - with endless patience and time for everyone.  As he makes his way down the street - inevitably he runs into people who he knows and stops regularly to share a good word with each.

Bob is very intelligent.  He has a world view which is very attractive - and while he doesn't necessarily share it with everyone - it is plain to see in the way he conducts himself what this world view is - it is all about peace, love and enjoying the moment.

He lived in a not-the-greatest apartment below Sherbrooke and even though he didn't have a lot of space welcomed Sam to live with him - which was fraught with problems - but because of Bob's love for Sam - he persevered.  Every year for a good number, Bob and his great friend Peter Aspinall would organized a Christmas Feast for a number of people from the area who had nowhere to go for the Holidays.  This was looked forward to by many in the community!

Among the man great traits Bob has is his love for dogs.  He has had several - usually big dogs.  And in each case he has cared for them as an owner should care for a dog - as beloved family.  Even though Bob didn't have a lot of excess money - his dogs were never short on anything.  He saw to that.  I remember him having to go deep into his savings at one point to pay a $700 DMV bill for euthanasia of one of his dogs.

Another thing I want to mention is one absolutely great relationship Bob shares at this point.  It is with Corinne Bury.  Corinne and he were partners for many years - then for whatever the reason - this broke up and they were estranged for a while.  Thankfully - one day I saw them back together - as friends - and this has maintained to this day!  They are living together in a really nice building on Sherbrooke - with a pool on the top floor - where they swim daily - and life is good on all counts!

It makes my heart feel great to tell you this story about my friend Bob.  He is a bright and shining light in this world and I hope that one day on your journeys through NDG you get to meet him - I promise he will make your day better!

Wishing you peace, love and joy always...
