What If Everyone Had Someone Looking Out for Them?

Imagine an NDG where nobody had to face life entirely alone.

Not because we created another government program.

Not because we built another institution.

But because we decided, as neighbours, that looking out for one another is simply what we do.

Imagine every street, apartment building and block having people who notice.

They notice when the elderly gentleman who normally walks every morning hasn't been seen for a few days.

They notice when the young mother carrying groceries could use another pair of hands.

They notice the newcomer who doesn't know anyone yet.

They notice the person sitting alone.

They notice the child who waves.

And eventually, something wonderful happens:

People begin noticing one another back.

This is one of the simplest ideas behind A NuVo World.

Before we build magnificent NuVoWay LifeStyle Centres, before we transform transportation, food, health, recreation and education, we can begin with something that costs absolutely nothing:

We can care.

We can learn someone's name.

We can ask, "How are you doing?" — and actually wait for the answer.

We can introduce two neighbours who have walked past one another for five years.

We can hold a door.

Carry a bag.

Share some food.

Make a telephone call.

Sit beside someone for ten minutes.

Smile at the person we normally ignore.

None of these things will appear in an economic report.

But they may completely change someone's day.

And occasionally, they may change someone's life.

My dream for NDG isn't simply that it becomes wealthier, cleaner, safer or more beautiful.

My dream is that NDG becomes the most caring community on Earth.

A place where 65,000 people gradually begin behaving less like strangers who happen to share a postal code and more like neighbours who share a community.

And perhaps someday someone will ask:

"How did A NuVo World begin?"

The answer won't be a building.

It won't be a corporation.

It won't even be a grand plan.

It will be much simpler.

Someone noticed someone else.

And cared.

Then another person did the same.

And another.

Until caring became contagious.

That is how we begin creating Heaven on Earth.

One neighbour.

One kindness.

One relationship.

One day at a time.

You never know where that simple moment might lead.
