A Divine Experience!
My wife Christy and I have a great new friend in the area by the name of Marc. He was an environmental engineer all his life, but I sense the role he feels he has been most important and successful in is in his management of people - friends and family mostly. From my conversations with him I have come to see someone who is generous to a fault with his time and money - always extending - always helping. As such Marc is in demand by his family and friends for his great intellect and his willingness to use everything in his power to assist however he can.
I saw Marc pretty much every day for awhile as his dog walks took him by my 'office.' Since the weather has turned colder, his beloved Molly no longer wants to go out at 7:30am - and stays in the house and warm until nature calls around 11am! I got an email from Marc last week saying that we must get together for a special lunch at Ram's! Ram's place is an amazing restaurant on Somerled called Express Indien. It offers far and away the best Indian food I have ever tasted at bargain-basement prices. We agreed on a date and time - Thursday Oct 23rd at 12:30pm.
When Christy and I got to the resto at 12:30pm, Marc had already selected a table for us and was up to greet us. He gave me a customary handshake - and then a hug - and for Christy a hug and a two-cheek kiss. Immediately we began to talk - about everything and nothing all at the same time. The conversation flowed easily and enjoyably. We ordered our meals from Ram and he went off into the kitchen to prepare as we continued to chat. It seemed like only a couple of minutes and we could hear the sounds of Ram preparing the Na'an - and no sooner had he done this than he emerged from the kitchen with Marc's fare - Chicken Dhansak. He came back a minute later with two beautiful plates - Butter Chicken Thali - for Christy and I.
The conversation slowed as we tucked into our meals - regularly mentioning what an incredible meal it was and offering kudos to the chef.
At a certain point Marc and I were talking about the necessities for living a really great life. We both agreed that great food and drink is critical. So from that standpoint - today's meal was definitely a Heaven on Earth experience for me. But that is the lesser part. It was the personal connection we made today - in our 3-way conversation - that was the bigger part of this experience. I am a huge proponent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) - and believe that in the time to come we will learn to trust it and will greatly benefit from all the advantages it affords. One thing it cannot replicate - however - is close personal bonds and relationships - and as far as I am concerned these are the essentials for true Heaven on Earth experiences.
So, my suggestion to you is get a spouse, friend or several people you love together, book a time at Express Indien - and do as I did today - enjoy a true Heaven on Earth moment with those you love.
All my love,
