Fun at the Playground!

In developing a weekly schedule in order to stay on budget - all the while indulging - I have created a means whereby we can eat out at some of our favourite places locally - while not breaking the bank.  The weekly plan is to eat at Pizza Velat on Somerled either Monday or Tuesday late afternoon, Nikas late afternoon on Thursdays and then to Playground Poker in Kahnawake at 1pm or so on Fridays - and again at Playground Poker on Sunday mornings for their amazing breakfast buffet.

This post is about our Friday afternoon journey to Playground Poker for their $7 Lunch Special at The Rail Restaurant.  We got there just after 12:30pm and the restaurant was buzzing.  There were several tables available and we were seated immediately.  A very nice young waitress named Megan came to us inside 2-3 minutes of us receiving our menus - and we told her we were ready to order.  Christy had the Rail Burger with fries and I had General Tao's Chicken with rice.

It was not 10 minutes later that we received our food - beautiful to look at on very nice (and heavy!) plates.  Immediately Christy wanted to try my General Tao's - and I allowed her to take a piece - which she gave two thumbs up!  I stole a couple of fries from her plate and found them great!  The burger was beautiful and very large - with a flame-grilled patty, real cheddar cheese, 3 pieces of crisp bacon, red onion, lettuce, tomato and mayo.  Christy loved it - and so did I as I had some of what she couldn't finish.  The General Tao's Chicken was scrumptious - as was the rice - and both of these for $14 total - no tax!  As I paid the bill I mentioned to Megan that I hope the diners tip on what a meal like that should cost - and not just give 15 or 20% on $7 meals.  She said many do go that route.  If you do take my advice and come to The Rail on Fridays for the $7 Lunch Special - please ensure to at least round your bill up to $20 - giving the wait staff a good tip.

That was a great beginning to our day at Playground.  We had some Free Play Vouchers from our Breakfast Buffet from the previous Sunday as well as a $25 voucher each for returning within a month to the casino.  We didn't know how to play the electronic Blackjack Tables - but a nice man who was playing showed us everything!  We played our $25 Free Play Voucher each - and Christy finished off after about 10-15 minutes of playing with $30 and I had $15.  So we took $50 of Free Play and made $45 cash which we left the grounds with.  I told Christy she can pay for Breakfast on Sunday at The American Breakfast Buffet - where you get an amazing breakfast for $15 - no tax or tip - along with a $10 Free Play slip!

It was a great afternoon - and now that we are home we are going to have a nice cup of tea and cuddle together and watch A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood!  Wishing you a lovely day - and weekend!

All my love,
