Our West Island Tour
So at just after 5pm tonight we pointed the car westward. We were at Costco inside 40 minutes - a normally 15 min drive without traffic. It was crowded at the Pointe Claire warehouse - and all we were going for was to buy 2 hot dogs - one to share for our lunch the following day and one for Christy to put into her Kraft Dinner! We knew the hot dogs were $1.50 each - what we didn't know was that this was with a 20oz unlimited refill soft drink! So for $3.45 we got two huge hot dogs and two drinks! We felt like bandits!
And then it was on to MacAllan's Pub - on Hymus at Sources. My great friend, Wayne Blunt has done an amazing job with the place - making it the place to go for live entertainment on the West Island pretty much every day. Tonight was no exception! Christy and I got there at 6:30pm, ordered a couple of beers and then went to play free billiards on one of their three tables. After playing a couple of games, we ordered cheese 'n bacon burgers and fries - which are two for one on Wednesdays! Not only are they a great deal, the burgers are amazing! As we were finishing our food, the night's event began to unfold - karaoke! We were treated to some really great singers - singing a bunch of songs we knew! It was fantastic!
This is a short post, but with a message. Sometimes we have to go outside of NDG to find what we need. This evening we discovered a little goldmine in Costco's restaurant. You are supposed to be a member to get in, but although we are members, no one asked to see our card as we headed to the little resto. If you are in the mood for a great hot dog and fries - or a great smoked meat ($7.99) and fries or chicken tenders and fries ($6.99) hit them up!
And then there is MacAllan's Pub - it is a beautiful place with great staff and a wonderful owner. Wayne has done an amazing job in crafting a super, reasonable menu and specials - and in putting together a weekly lineup of very attractive and fun events. Give him a visit - I promise you it won't be your last!
All my love,
