An Idea Whose Time Has Come
That only tells half the story. My entire life I have had big - if not huge dreams. I wanted to be one of the best players on the planet in the sport I love - racquetball - and I accomplished this. I wanted to become a veterinarian - and returned from playing professional racquetball living out of San Diego and Denver - and undertook a sequence of studies involving a mature student load at Concordia University (120 credits) to get my BSc Biology in 2.5 years - and then to apply, be accepted and complete my DVM degree at Ontario Veterinary College at Guelph in 1989. in 2001 - after numerous business endeavours - as President and CEO - I took my company - NuVo - onto NASDAQ in a fast 11 months from inception. These all demonstrate very accurately that while my thinking may be 'big' - so is my capability. You can see what I have accomplished on My CV - which I have never used to get a job!
This time my idea is smaller - more local. It is involving The Depot - NDG and surrounding community's emergency food resource. In the face of several unacceptable decisions and actions by The Depot - I find it necessary to act in the interest of all those on the lower margins of society who are in need of a really great service - and a good meal or two in their bellies daily. Here is an open letter I have written to Peter Guay - Chairman of the Board of The Depot - along with Tasha Lackman - Executive Director: Open Letter.
My hope and interest in doing this is that together we can start the process of change. I have sent this letter to all English Media contacts in the West End/Montreal - along with a list of 100 or so 'movers and shakers' in NDG. I'd like to ask anyone who reads this blog post to please circulate it - so that we may get as many people as possible involved in developing a solution - and something extremely special for Montreal. Many thanks in advance!
You can also contribute directly to The Depot here: RestoDepot.
All my love,
