A Realization - An Epiphany!
I was in the hospital for an extended period from February of this year - and the combination of complete inactivity along with 3 hearty meals/day did not help my midsection. On Monday, Christy and I had a wonderful tour of the Western part of the island of Montreal - with one stop being to sign up for a Costco membership. When I saw the fatness in my face - the jig was up! I must get back to my former ways!
My plans for fitness, racquet sports and golf are tremendous for the Montreal area: NuVoWay LifeStyle Centres. G3 Golf facilities. These are in the process of being implemented. But for now - I need a place local to NDG to train. There are several - including Concordia's facility and the Y. In the area there really are no facilities which offer squash, racquetball or tennis. So I searched out EconoFitness in Cavendish Mall.
Christy and I make a weekly sojourn to the Mall as it is. We love the fact that most of the merchants are the owners of the stores - and enjoy speaking with them. Christy's favourites are GolTeez and Chelsea, and we also make a point of stopping in at Ralph's to see Gino, STARZ Cinema to see Bernie and Maxie's to get some cheese bagels or danishes from Mark. While the mall is not huge - we love it and think that Roy Salomon has done a wonderful job of preserving what remains - and is even moving it forward!
But back to EconoFitness! I had checked out the pricing online and was leaning towards their Platinum Membership - which for $14.99 every two weeks (taxes in) gives access 24/7 along with the ability to work out at all 70 of their facilities across Quebec. In addition this membership gives unlimited access to massage chairs, hydromassage beds and tanning beds, along with unlimited showers - which are $2 for 6 minutes. Not only are the facilities clean and spacious, but all the equipment is current. To top this off, they have recently committed to using the other half of the former Bureau en Gros space - making it bigger and even better!
If this sounds like a an advertisement for EconoFitness - it is! I have spent my life in fitness and have seen most of the gyms and offerings. You will not find a better, more cost efficient place to train and recover than this place - and at $14.99 every two weeks - your health is worth this and much more! So please - do yourself a favour and join the EconoFitness nearest you. If you need help with your training, please contact great people like Miles Krol, Myles Lalonde or Dean Hollingworth.
All my love,
