Bangkok Express: A Delight on Monkland!

It had been a whirlwind couple of weeks where I have barely had time to keep my head above water!  I surfaced today and had time to plan a luncheon meal at Bangkok Express on Monkland.

From the street what you can see is a lovely terrace - which was quite active on this day which was about 25° C and overcast - so not too hot.  Upon entry the restaurant is warm and inviting - and nicely laid out with tables and booths for 2 - 4 and more.

We were helped to our table by a very friendly young lady - who brought us a decanter of water and glasses.  On the table was the restaurant's lunch specials menu - a choice of appetizer - choice of main dish (with rice) - and beverage - all for $16.95!

From the appetizer menu of five items including Imperial Roll, Spring Roll, and two types of dumplings - I chose the dumplings in peanut butter sauce.  These were very tasty little morsels - served 4/order in a little black ramekin - a great kickoff to our meal!

From the main course menu - I ordered General Thai chicken from the menu which included vegetarian, meat and fish options.  It took no less than 5 minutes from the time our table was cleared from our appetizers to be served - and the plate was spectacular!  Good sized portions of chicken were interspersed with a very attractive blend of green, red and orange peppers, onion slices and pineapple wedges.  There was a healthy portion of white rice as well.  The General Thai chicken morsels were tender and tasty - and spiced so that they were hot - but not too much so.  I was able to have a couple of wedges of peppers with every mouthful of chicken!  There was ample sauce to drench my rice with and to really savour the taste of the sauce with the rice.

This was my first time visiting Bangkok Express - and it will not be my last!  Everything from decor - to service to food quality and presentation - to value hit a very high note in my book - and it will most definitely be one of my go-to places for lunch in the neighbourhood!

Wishing you peace, love and joy always...
